With dreams of someday owning "the perfect 60 series" I bought this truck and reluctantly decided to sell it about 10 months later.  I imported it from Canada which was it's own hassle.  Henry Brimmer, editor of Toyota Trails Magazine had warned me not to buy the truck, he said "wait until you get to altitude" and he was right.  Secondly, though I personally think the HJ60 is great for it's stock setup (I found no apparent lack of power at low altitude with the stock tires), as soon as I went to 33" tires the truck became a dog.

Meanwhile, at work I began researching the possibility of installing a Cummins into a 60 Series and I began dreaming of what I could do with the amount of money I imagined I could get for my HJ60.  I figured I could maybe get $13,000 for it because it is still in immaculate condition, I figured for $8000 the Cummins conversion could be done if I did all the work myself and I'd have $5000 to play around with.  So I decided to sell her and now definitely regret it though I will someday build a new diesel truck.  In the end, largely because the Land Cruiser market has sort-of crashed, I ended up getting about $9500 for it though I think I could have gotten significantly more for it if I was patient.

After I sold it, the fellow who bought it has not decided to pick it up for some time now (though I talk to him on average for about 20 minutes a day about it).  He's had me install a turbocharger, an custom AC setup as he lives in humid Texas, and a number of other items.  The turbo setup and AC were done by Royal Rose and I.

After installing the turbo I decided I never should have sold the truck.  It's output now is somewhere near that of a 2F but it still has the added benefit of the 5th gear and great mileage, somewhere near 20-25 mpg on flats and highways.  It also now hauls ass on the highways and can reach 80 mph easily (it used to be that way with the stock tires) but this is with 33" tires.  However, when you hit some of the killer hills here in Utah she bogs down a little.
