3B in a Mini Truck
or 4 Runner
Created Dec 25th, 2002
This discussion came up on
the LCML about a month or two ago. It was called
"3b in a mini" if you search
archieves, access them via

I said I thought it'd be
a tight fit in a mini but noted people have been
shoving Chevy 350s and NV4500s
into their mini trucks. Wayne who's on this
list said it would fit fine
and be an awesome swap into a Mini. I'm not
sure on the size difference
between a 3B and a Chevy V8 height and depth
wise. I have seen
the V8 and NV4500 in the mini and couldn't believe it
fits but it does!
The H55F is smaller and shorter. I would think you
should be able to fit the
whole drivetrain in. I'm not sure where Dan
Loubier is (probably busy
as usual :) ) supposedly he is the resident 2L and
2L-T expert. I probably
wouldn't put a 2L into a mini myself but would
probably consider the 2L-T
though I'm not sure if I'd put it into a 4 Runner
unless it was fairly lightweight.
AFAIK, the K series weren't available in
any form in North America.
It would be nice to have one but as Wayne says
"I'd hate to do a swap without
the whole truck" especially if the engine is
electronically controlled.
Using a mini truck tranny might be a nice cheap
option, perhaps import the
3B-mini transmission bellhousing from a wrecker
in Aust?
